iCorp specializes in helping Latin American companies restructure to facilitate transactions with US companies and investors.  Our sharp understanding of the US market and Latin American organizations allow us to recommend innovative methodologies to make our clients more attractive for US based M&A, equity investments and bank based transactions.

Iván M. Morales

Iván Morales, iCorp’s Managing Director, is a lawyer by training, having graduated from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law with a Juris Doctor (1996) and LL.M. in Transnational Business Practice (1997) in a collaborative program with the Law Juridicum of Salzburg University. Iván started his career with Gomez, Acebo & Pombo in Madrid, Spain before joining Shearman & Sterling in New York where he acquired experience in bank finance, corporate finance, M&A, bankruptcy and litigation.  In 2003 he joined Linklaters expanding practice in New York as a Senior Litigation and Restructuring Associate until he joined Visa International in 2008 as its Head of Legal Services and Government Relations for Latin America.

Thereafter, Iván became the General Counsel of the Somos Group, a Latin American Entertainment Group based in Miami, Florida.  In order to expand his horizons, he established iCorp in 2013 in order to help clients become more attractive for US transactions.

Maria Luisa Contreras

Maria Luisa Contreras, a Senior Advisor with iCorp, is an expert with over 30 years experience as a restructuring lawyer, operating trustee and financial advisor. Maria has operated steel-mills, hotels, retail establishments and many other business organizations in need of restructuring expertise.

Maria graduated from the University of Puerto Rico Law School, Magna Cum Laude and worked as a law clerk for the Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico before opening one of Puerto Rico’s most successful restructuring practices. Maria was later admitted to both the District of Columbia Bar and the New York State Bar.

Maria is passionate about helping companies organize in such a fashion as to become successful operating corporate entities for the benefit of shareholders, members and other stake holders.
